Rebecca Willis is a Professor in Practice at Lancaster Environment Centre, where she holds a Fellowship in energy and climate governance. She is an Expert Lead for Climate Assembly UK, the Citizens’ Assembly established by the UK Parliament. Previously, she was a research fellow for the IGov project at the University of Exeter, investigating energy governance. In 2009 Rebecca founded Green Alliance’s Climate Leadership Programme, an initiative to support Members of the UK Parliament.

Rebecca is a Trustee of the New Economics Foundation and an adviser to the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund. From 2015-2019 she was a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of UKRI’s Energy Programme, and from 2011-15 she was a Council Member of the Natural Environment Research Council. Previously she was Vice-Chair of the UK Sustainable Development Commission, advising the Prime Minister and First Ministers of the devolved administrations. She is an Associate of the think tank Green Alliance and from 2001-4 was Green Alliance’s Director.

Rebecca has a degree in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, and a PhD from Lancaster University.

Work w/ CUSP

As Honorary Fellow, Rebecca is involved with CUSP research across the CUSP work programme, with a particular focus on examining how politicians and other decision-makers can be engaged in the transition to sustainable prosperity.
