In September 2015, 193 UN Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) – an ambitious set of 169 targets and 17 Global Goals that commits all signatory countries to tackle issues from gender inequality to climate change, access to quality education and the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies.

“For the goals to be reached, everyone needs to do their part: governments, private sector, civil society and people like us.” In this 1 day school conference, 160 students between the ages of 13-14 are challenged to learn, discuss and create as global citizens methods for the UK to meet the SDGs; in due course designing new ideas and solutions.

Dr Sue Venn, who is working on our research into young people’s lifestyles and aspirations, is attending the conference to help the students with developing and articulating their ideas. The conference is organised by the Ken Stimpson Community School, in conjunction with the Created By Schools Initiative. You can follow the build up and students progress on their project website.
