Video | Ecological Economics: What has Covid-19 revealed about our fragile economy?

Short film about growth, value and the economy; with CUSP researcher Simon Mair | March 2021

Ever wondered why our economy has failed to provide for us all through Covid-19? Ever questioned why it’s always talk about growth and not human resilience and flourishing? Want to know what kind of economic futures might work for people and planet?

This short animation by Broaden Films, dives into questions about growth, value and the economy with CUSP researcher Simon Mair.

Inspired by his article ‘What Will The World Be Like After Coronavirus?‘, the film makers talk to Simon about the field of Ecological Economics, and how we might imagine economic futures which are more just and fair, drawing in concepts from i.a. Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics.

What started out as an interview has now become this video, a 10-minute animated rollercoaster through topics such growth, value, the economy, Covid-19, mutual aid and more. Topics that the film makers Bryony Simcox and George Webster believe should be engaging and accessible to all.
