Upskilling the UK Workforce for the 21st Century
As the UK recovers from the COVID-19 crisis, it will be important to ensure that workers are equipped with the skills necessary to get them back into meaningful employment as quickly as possible. This means empowering people to develop the skills and competencies that are essential for employment in the short term, but also understanding the changing requirements for jobs in the future, as the UK accelerates the transition towards a net zero emissions economy.
This event will launch the Aldersgate Group’s latest policy briefing with CUSP, arguing that addressing the skills challenge has to be a priority across government policy and must also be driven by much greater input and collaboration from business and educational institutions. Following an overview of the briefing and a political keynote by Kwasi Kwarteng MP, a multi-sector business panel will debate what they see as the most important policy priorities to invest in the skills of the future, and create jobs right across the country.
