Emily is a PhD student based at Keele University. Her research with CUSP is focusing on the relationship between sustainable food and social change with particular emphasis on how food can be used as a vehicle for a transition towards a degrowth economy and society.

Emily is a PhD researcher with CUSP, based in the School of Politics, Philosophy, International Relations and the Environment at Keele University. Her areas of interest falls under the political studies branch of CUSP’s work, with her research focusing on the relationship between sustainable food and social change with particular emphasis on how food can be used as a vehicle for a transition towards a degrowth economy and society.

Emily’s academic background is in Politics and International Relations, having focused her area of interest towards agriculture and political ecology during her Msc in Environment, Politics and Development at the London School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Prior to undertaking her Phd Emily was working in the not-for profit sector for a Sustainable Food organisation, which further cultivated her interest in wanting to understand the relation between grassroot alternatives and broader social change.
