Mathia Germanà is a PhD candidate in Innovation, Development, and Well-being at LUMSA University, Rome. Their research focuses on eco-social innovation and community-based welfare in environmentally degraded, post-industrial contexts, with particular attention to Taranto, a UN-designated “sacrifice zone.”
Work w/ CUSP
As a Visiting Researcher at CUSP (February–July 2026), working with Professor Kate Burningham, they conduct comparative research between Italian and UK post-industrial communities (including Stoke-on-Trent), exploring how welfare systems and governance structures shape social responses to environmental crises.
