Work w/ CUSP

The Shifting The Rhetoric initiative recognises the position of Youth as essential to raising awareness on new conceptual postgrowth thinking generated at CUSP across all countries and societies, with a particular emphasis on the Global South. Shifting The Rhetoric’s pilot phase in Jordan, incorporating CYCLES research, is raising awareness on transformative economics, with a CUSP multi-disciplinary team facilitating research, social entrepreneurship and other activities. By sharing this new economic thinking with remarkable, diverse Secondary and University students as well as Youth at civic entities and professional organisations, in practical sessions facilitated by economics, climate, sustainability and enterprise professionals, a substantial increase in understanding can be realised. This new knowledge will then return to academic, civic and professional institutions for Youth participants to further understand, discuss and adapt the theories to their localised situation. Discussions are already in progress as to potential future destinations for Shifting The Rhetoric after Jordan, including Pakistan, Egypt and Colombia.

It is envisaged that by placing this new knowledge in the hands of Youth, the planet’s future guardians, and in particular Youth from locations often experiencing dramatic societal, economic and climate-related challenges, the opportunity for transformation will be understood, discussed, localised and, finally, seized upon for the betterment of the planet and global population.
